How to Recreate Responsibly this Spring/Summer

May 3, 2020Lauren

Hey everyone! I know you’re probably just as excited as we are for the parks, trails, and public lands to begin opening back up again. Believe me, the excitement is real over in this tiny 500 square foot apartment! But before you run out the door, please be sure to follow these guidelines in order to recreate responsibly and keep our parks open so we can continue to enjoy the great outdoors instead of the great indoors (ba dum chh).

Do your research.

Be sure to check on your state parks and public lands websites to ensure the trail/s you want to go to our open. Have a Plan B, and even C just in case the trail you arrive at has a full parking lot or is closed. AllTrails is also an incredible app to do your research on to find plenty of trails and to avoid the trails that are highly trafficked.

Avoid extra stops.

Fill up thee old gas tank at your local gas station before you go to avoid stopping in at small towns. Also use the restroom before you go and pack all your snacks, lunch, coffee, etc. with you to avoid stopping as well.

Hike with your quarantine fam.

I know you miss your friends – we do too! But until this passes, stick to hiking with the people you’ve been sharing a household with to avoid any transmission of viruses.

Keep social distancing.

Bring a mask with you and if it’s crowded please wear it! Keep 6 feet away from other hikers. Also please keep your dogs on a leash (if you don’t already practice this)!

Leave no trace.

Everyone should already be following this rule to keep our parks wild and beautiful. But just in case you forgot – pack it out and leave it better than you found it!

Happy trails!

By following these simple rules it will truly help keep everyone safe, happy, and healthy on the trails and will help us to be able to enjoy these beautiful places (hopefully) all summer long!
